After Action Report: 2017 National Matches

by: Charlie Crotser

Your GCL Civilian Marksmanship Team is back from the National Matches and they brought home a truck load of Gold, Silver and Bronze medals!

It was a typical month of July at Camp Perry on the south shore of Lake Erie in Port Clinton, Ohio… HOT and HUMID with the occasional DOWN POUR!

The GCL CMP shooting team participated in individual and two man team events with “as issued” service rifles from the WWI, WWII/Korea, Vietnam and modern military era competing against some of the best civilian and active duty military competitors in the country. When the dust settled and dehydrated bodies were nourished, the GCL team walked away with 32 medals. Way to go TEAM GCL!

The GCL CMP team would like to thank Wayne and the Board for your continued support of our program. Without the support, we would have trouble holding the “10-ring”. For anyone interested in the CMP, we have vintage and modern service rifles to loan for your first experience. Just make contact with the CMP program directors Tom or Charlie and we will welcome you to participate.
