TO REGISTER FOR A NYS DEPT OF ENVIRONMENTAL CONSERVATION HUNTER EDUCATION COURSE AT GCL, YOU MUST REGISTER VIA THE DEC WEBSITE. No registrations are taken at GCL. To register for a class, go to the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation Website at www.DEC.ny.gov or go directly to: https://registered.com/programs/new_york/165

All Hunter Education Courses require the completion of homework prior to attending the course. Manuals and homework sheets can be obtained thru the DEC website or can be picked up from DEC office in Avon, NY. Proof of completed homework must be brought to a course led by an instructor. The homework will take several hours to complete. YOU WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO ENTER THE CLASS UNLESS YOUR HAVE COMPLETED THE HOMEWORK!

Students must be 11 years or older to take this course (Note: In New York State the minimum age to hunt is 12-years old). Students 11 to 16 years old must have a signed permission form (found in the student handbook) from a parent or legal guardian to allow for the handling and shooting of a firearm during this course.
