DEC Hunter Education

DEC Hunter Education classes held at Genesee Conservation League

Beginning in 2016, all Sportsman Education Courses will require the completion of homework prior to attending the course.
Proof of the completed homework must be brought to the course led by an instructor.

The homework may take several hours to complete.
There are NO ‘online-only’ courses. Homework and the in-person instruction portion of the course is required for all New York courses.

All courses are taught by DEC-certified instructors.  New Sportsman Education classes are added continuously throughout the year. Most of the classes are taught between March and September. Do not wait until just before the hunting season to take a class. Classes fill quickly, so it is important to sign up early.  All registrations for the Hunter and Bow safety classes held at GCL are handled thru the on-line registration system of the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation web site (www.dec.ny.gov). Search the DEC website for the key words “Sportsman Education” or “Hunter Education” and follow the links.
